Finding God

Some of the biggest changes to my life have come that moment I knew I would become a mom. I knew that what I had been doing was not exactly what I could be proud of. I had internal work to begin again, even while I was pregnant. I learned how to take care of myself. I nourished my body with plenty of water, I took my vitamins, prepared beautiful meals, catered to my body; all because of my little girl. The awakening happened. The being born again happened. 

I joined a church and found God. 

I learned what it means to be assertive and to establish boundaries. And if a person violates those boundaries, they are removed from my life, without explanation. I don't owe anyone anything. 

Now I choose. Me. I choose.

If I could sum up our lives in one word, it would probably be chaos. I haven't wanted it to be that way, but it has just been that way. Domestic Abuse Happens to Anyone

“Fuck you.”  These two words were the deal breaker for me. You can’t take it back after you say it either. And if someone is unwilling to communicate at a later time, you reach an impasse. An understanding cannot be made no matter how much you want to try to make it work. This is a main reason I didn’t go back. I grew up seeing the destruction of what my parents did to each other and I knew that I did not want that for my marriage. It had nothing to do with me. The cycle of abuse that he endured surely taught him that it was acceptable to talk to a person he “loved” in that manner. It becomes an addiction or many addictions in his case, in various forms to treat people like that, too. Whatever healing does not take place, you carry it with you and at any point in time, it can become unleashed. So let me ask you, are you going to hold it against someone for that? Why? Finding My Voice: The First Performance

When my sister and I were little girls, my mother put us in piano lessons. We learned how to play various songs and would go home to practice in preparation for the recital we would be a part of to show our family what we learned. I remember my mother put us in these cute light pink ruffley dresses. It was the 80's. Those ruffles were on all of the dresses. It is one of just a few memories I have from my childhood that has stuck with me to this day. The irony of this is that the exact place I did that piano recital when I was a little girl, was the exact place that I performed for the first time, vocally, yesterday. Musical theater is something I've always wanted to do. And it is something I've been terrified to do at the same time. I could barely hold the mic when I was singing my verse and bridge of the song.
